Executive management

Chris is a qualified accountant with considerable experience in the insurance and financial services industries.

Chris established, built and successfully sold BCF Holdings Limited, a private financial services business, between 1985 and 1992. He spent five years between 1993 and 1998 with Sedgwick Group PLC, initially as Finance Director for its London non-marine broking operations and subsequently as Managing Director of Sedgwick Europe and Chief Executive for Latin America.

He joined Murray Lawrence & Partners (at that time, the largest Lloyd's managing agency) in 1998 as Chief Operating Officer. Whilst at Murray Lawrence, Chris was instrumental in reversing that business into Angerstein PLC to form Amlin PLC, a FTSE 250 company.

Chris joined Goshawk Insurance Holdings PLC as Finance Director in 1999 when, as a listed Lloyd's managing agency, it had a market capitalisation of $35 million. Subsequently he became Chief Executive in June 2002 following the resignation of Goshawk's active underwriter at Lloyd's. He built Goshawk into a business with a market capitalisation in excess of $200 million, including establishing Goshawk Re as a Class 4 reinsurer in Bermuda after the 9/11 attacks in the US.

Chris then spent two years researching the non-life insurance and reinsurance run-off sector, reviewing a variety of transactions before establishing and becoming Chairman and Chief Executive of Catalina Holdings Ltd with equity capital backing from Royal Bank Investments and Nikko Principal Investments.

Catalina Holdings Ltd acquired reinsurer Overseas Partners Re Ltd from its parent Overseas Partners Ltd for $170.5 million in September 2005 and the reinsurance business was renamed Catalina Reinsurance Ltd. Catalina Re was the immediate predecessor of Catalina Holdings (Bermuda) Ltd.

Dean began his career as an actuary in Australia in the areas of non-life insurance and reinsurance actuarial consulting and structured finance.

He spent several years as a Principal for W M Mercer, providing claims reserving and premium rating advice to many of Australia's largest insurers.

Dean moved to London in 1994 and spent several years in the structured finance operations of a number of investment banks including Hambros and Societe Generale, with a focus on structured tax based risk transfer transactions. This work included the development and arrangement of leveraged leases, cross-border leases, structured preference shares and contingent debt.

He has worked as a consulting actuary providing reinsurance structuring, modelling and arranging services to insurers and reinsurers. This work focused on the analysis of books of long-tail business and the development of reinsurance strategies to transfer risk and to act as an alternative to equity capital. Dean is particularly familiar with accident and health risks, employer's liability and workers compensation business, professional liability business, residual value guarantee risk and trade credit and political risk classes.

Dean has worked with Chris Fagan since 2004 and is Chief Actuary of Catalina. He has a degree in actuarial studies from Australia's Macquarie University and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries and a General Representative of the UK Financial Services Authority.

Graduated in 1970 from Hobart College (Geneva, NY) with a BA in economics.

He began his career with Reliance Insurance Company (Philadelphia, PA) in claims.

In 1978, he joined the Scottish & York International Insurance Group (Princeton, NJ) as National Manager, Transportation Claims and later became Vice President and Chief Claims Officer.

Peter joined Berkshire Hathaway Group of Insurance Companies in 1986 as Vice President of its reinsurance division (Philadelphia/NYC), and later with additional responsibilities as claims Vice President of its newly established commercial casualty division (NYC).

From 1988 to 2004, he worked with a number of Zurich Insurance Group related companies, two of which were jointly owned by Aon, as: Vice President and Chief Claims Officer of Centre Re (1988).

• Founder, President, CEO, Director and Chairman of IRISC Inc., NJ, (1989 - 1998), a company specialising in managing runoffs and active accounts;
• Founder and Chairman of Claims Management Group Ltd, London (1993 - 2003), a company specialising in the management of London market and Lloyd's syndicate runoffs;
• Founder, Chairman and CEO of Risk Enterprise Management Ltd, NY, (1995 - 2004), a company founded to manage the runoff of the Home Insurance Company and other runoffs and active accounts.

He also served as the Chairman and CEO of Home Insurance Company and USI Re after they were placed into runoff (1995 - 2003).

Peter joined Quanta Capital Holdings Ltd. (Bermuda) as President and CEO in 2006 after it placed its two US insurance companies, two Bermuda reinsurance companies and European company into runoff.

He joined Catalina in 2008 following its acquisition of Quanta Capital Holdings, with responsibility for management of the runoff of companies acquired by Catalina.

Chris graduated from the University of Manchester in 1993 and joined KPMG Peat Marwick in Manchester, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 1996.

He joined Overseas Partners Re Ltd from KPMG Bermuda in June 1999 where he was Chief Accounting Officer and a member of the senior management team that completed the successful run-off of Overseas Partners Re, returning over $1 billion to shareholders over a four year period.

Chris joined Catalina in June 2006 as Chief Financial Officer.

He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales.

Keith graduated in Law from Cambridge University in 1988 before attending the College of Law in Guildford. He joined Herbert Smith in 1990, qualifying as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 1992.

He has 18 years of experience providing legal services to the insurance and reinsurance industry in the UK, Europe and Bermuda, latterly focusing on legacy business and the run-off acquisition sector.

Keith spent nine years as a partner in the Insurance and Reinsurance industry group at Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP.

He acted for Catalina Holdings Ltd in relation to the acquisition of Overseas Partners Re Ltd from Overseas Partners Ltd in 2005.

He acted for Bear Stearns International in relation to the acquisition of the Minster Group of companies from French insurer Groupama SA in 2006/2007.

He joined Catalina Holdings (Bermuda) Ltd as General Counsel in October 2007.

Peter is an honours graduate of Williams College in American Studies in 1973 and earned a Master of International Affairs and Finance from Columbia University in 1975.

He joined Irving Trust Company where he spent 11 years working in New York, Tokyo and Miami managing FX and money market trading operations, before returning to New York to set up Irving's interest rate derivative operations.

He moved to Union Bank of Switzerland in 1986 to manage their derivative products business in Asia, based in Tokyo. In 1993, he moved to London to join the bank's Global Structured Products group.

Until 1997 he was involved in structured and tax arbitrage for the bank's account, arranging several landmark transactions including one, involving Italian Postal bonds, which was shortlisted by the Economist magazine as one of the financial deals of all time.

In 1998, following the merger with Swiss Bank Corporation, he was selected to set up the London office of the Principal Finance and Credit Arbitrage business.

In 2003, he returned to the USA for UBS after a total of 17 years abroad to assist in managing the global reference-linked notes programmes which at that time totalled $27 billion.

After taking early retirement from the UBS group in early 2007, he performed a series of consultancy assignments relating to structuring and asset management, the last of which being for Catalina Holdings (Bermuda) Ltd, starting in early January 2009.

Peter joined Catalina Holdings (Bermuda) Ltd as Chief Investment Officer in April 2009.

Mayur graduated from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1997 with concentrations in Actuarial Science and Corporate Finance.

Between 1997 and 1999 he worked as an analyst in the Financial Institutions M&A group at Solomon Smith Barney, involved in various insurance transactions relating to private equity and strategic acquirers.

He joined Greenwich Street Capital Partners ('GSC') in New York in 1999 as an Associate working for their Private Equity/Distressed Debt fund.

In 2001, he moved to London to help establish GSC's European Mezzanine operations. He moved back to New York in 2006 as Managing Director of the Structured Finance Group at GSC.

Between 1999 and 2006, Mayur was actively involved in the management of Dukes Place Holdings Ltd, a vehicle set up by GSC in 1998 to acquire non-life insurance/reinsurance companies in run-off. He was involved in the acquisition by Dukes Place of Stonewall Insurance Company from Great American Insurance Company in 2000, and led the acquisitions of Norwich Winterthur Reinsurance Company (renamed Cavell Insurance) from Norwich Union Holdings Ltd in 2003 and Cirrus Reinsurance Company Ltd. from Oslo Re in 2004.

He joined JC Flowers & Co. in London in 2007 as Vice President within their financial services private equity funds. He joined Catalina in April 2009 to lead its acquisitions in the non-life insurance/reinsurance run-off sector globally.

Mayur was a non-executive director of Stonewall Insurance Company and Cavell Insurance, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cirrus Reinsurance Company Ltd. He is a non-executive director of two other Dukes Place acquisitions - Unione Italiana Reinsurance Company (UK) Ltd and Seaton Insurance Company. The total assets of Dukes Place exceed $1.2 billion at its peak. In 2006, he led the sale of all Dukes Place investments to Enstar Group Limited.

Graduated in 1989 from the University of Maine at Orono with BA in Mathematics.

A Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries.

Charles has over 22 years of experience in the reinsurance and insurance industry. He has extensive experience in the analysis and structuring of deals involving long tail lines of business, pricing and ROC model building, and reserving.

In 2004 joined Quanta Capital Holdings Ltd. as Senior Vice President and Chief Actuary. Joined Catalina in 2008 following its acquisition of Quanta Capital Holdings Ltd. His responsibilities for Catalina include reserving analysis for the acquired companies, acquisition due diligence, commutation negotiations, and claims auditing.
